Time for some changes around here. The Better Angels blog has been an experiment to see if I could successfully mix my various interests in one blog, in particular both politics and gaming.
I'm proud of many of the posts, and the stats show that my most popular posts fall on both sides of that divide: One is the Bill Ayers terrorism post which, to my surprise, continually gets hits and I hope educates people on that subject. The other is the post on how to get Fallout 1 running. I find it interesting that both are comprehensive posts useful at any time to anyone interested in the subject, and this encourages me in the direction of comprehensive posts that are periodically updated as necessary.
The stats also show that while many people visit, not many stick around. In my own experience, I've found that blogs I'm subscribed to out of a particular interest (say, Apple-related blogs) that occasionally lurch into politics only serve to annoy me, as it's quite likely I'm on a different political planet than the blogger and the blogger has no particular expertise or depth of wisdom in politics. So I grit my teeth and just try to filter that out; if a blogger like that posted on politics frequently, I'd drop their blog from my list.
In thinking about this, I realize I'm subjecting my readers to the same. I have two clear interests these days: Gaming and politics. People are likely to land on this blog due to my participation in forums of either type, and are equally as likely to jump away when they encounter multiple detailed discussions of some ancient RPG they've never heard of, or multiple posts from a politically nutty point of view.
So it's time to recognize reality and split things out. As such, I've created a new blog, Avenging Angels, dedicated to gaming and other less-serious subjects and have moved my gaming posts over there.
This blog will be dedicated to political and scientific subjects, and is likely to go through some changes. I'll post about that next.
Meantime, if you are subscribed to this blog and into gaming, please do subscribe to the Avenging Angels feed!
First post, woooo
Count on me to add class to any blog's comments section!

I can't do that, but if you send me your bank account tracking info, I CAN get you in touch with people who have been trying to get a lost inheritance to you and who have an interesting proposition regarding some funds they need to smuggle out of their country through an honest American...
